Zilfee's connections are taking time to make the next move

Zilfee's connections are taking a measured approach following the half-sister to the renowned mare Enable's victorious debut at Kempton.

Owned by Juddmonte and trained by John and Thady Gosden at Clarehaven, like her illustrious sibling, the Sea The Stars progeny didn't race at two. In her maiden outing at Sunbury, she went off at 7-1 under Kieran Shoemark, prevailing in a competitive field with a determined finish. Despite displaying some greenness when hitting the front, she rallied back courageously to win by a short head.

The Zilfee team expressed delight at her promising debut but emphasised the need to let things settle before confirming her next steps. Barry Mahon, European racing manager for Juddmonte, commented on her performance and future prospects:

"It was a great start for her. She's always been a striking filly, but was a bit weak last year and needed time. John and Thady were patient and waited until she was ready. She showed tenacity at Kempton, fighting back when challenged late in the race. We're pleased with her progress and hopeful for her future."

"We haven't finalised plans yet. There's nothing specific in the immediate schedule that stands out. We'll assess her post-race condition after Ascot and then decide. Our priority is to give her grass experience and gradually build her up."

"It's important not to rush her into tough competition too soon. We'll aim for another novice race and take it step by step."
