Royal Ascot winner Wild Tiger is back in light exercise as he prepares for an autumn campaign, culminating in a bid for the Bahrain International Trophy.
The five-year-old, trained by Saeed bin Suroor, secured a hat-trick in the Royal Hunt Cup after previous wins at Yarmouth and Goodwood. Following a mid-season break, Wild Tiger is now being gradually brought up to full fitness, with the Bahrain International Trophy, won last year by Richard Fahey’s Spirit Dancer, as his main objective.
Bin Suroor explained that Wild Tiger had already raced five times this year, prompting the need for a break after Ascot. The horse has been given some time off and is now undergoing light training. The plan is to target the autumn, with a specific focus on the Bahrain International Trophy, and he will also be set to run in Dubai next year. Bin Suroor emphasised the importance of allowing horses to rest when necessary.
He also noted that Wild Tiger is an improving horse who has been performing well. Winning at Royal Ascot was a notable achievement, and there is optimism about his future prospects. Bin Suroor highlighted the need for careful management, given that the horse had a busy schedule, including racing in Dubai last year.
