Whistlejacket's triumph in the Kingdom of Bahrain

Whistlejacket showcased his class by winning the Kingdom of Bahrain July Stakes at Newmarket. After finishing second on his debut and then impressively winning a Listed event at the Curragh, the No Nay Never colt entered the race as the odds-on favourite for the Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot, but could only manage fourth place.

However, stepping up in distance to six furlongs, the Aidan O’Brien-trained youngster redeemed himself with a decisive victory under jockey Ryan Moore. Taking the lead early on the July Course, Whistlejacket maintained his position despite some competition and crossed the finish line one and three-quarters lengths ahead, drifting slightly to the left.

Billboard Star finished second, while the previously unbeaten Ain’t Nobody came in last. Paddy Power now considers Whistlejacket a 25-1 shot for the 2000 Guineas next year. Coolmore's Paul Smith mentioned that the colt will now move up to Group One races for his next challenge, possibly targeting the Prix Morny or the Phoenix Stakes.

Moore believed that the longer trip suited Whistlejacket's abilities and that the ground condition was not a significant factor. He praised the colt's talent and potential for further improvement, despite still being inexperienced and racing a bit green.

Overall, Whistlejacket's victory at Newmarket was a clear display of his potential and the high hopes for his future career in racing.
