Vandeek shall miss the Commonwealth Cup

Vandeek, a standout performer from last season, will be unable to participate in Friday's Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot due to an abnormal blood count.

Trained by Simon and Ed Crisford, the talented son of Havana Grey showed promise as a juvenile with a maiden win at Nottingham followed by victories in the Richmond Stakes at Goodwood and the Prix Morny in France.

He continued his success with a win in the Middle Park Stakes but faced disappointment in his seasonal return at Haydock.

Despite high expectations for his performance this week, Vandeek's withdrawal was announced in a statement by the Crisfords. The team is focused on his recovery and hopes to have him ready for the July Cup in three weeks.

Vandeek joins Bucanero Fuerte as another notable absence from the Commonwealth Cup due to travel sickness.

In a statement released by the Crisfords, they expressed disappointment: “Unfortunately, Vandeek will not be able to compete in the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot this Friday due to an abnormal blood count. He had been training well, so this is frustrating for everyone involved. Our priority now is to ensure his full recovery and health." “If all goes as planned, he should be fit and ready for the July Cup in three weeks.”
