Vandeek`s next approach is Commonwealth Cup

Vandeek, the Havana Grey colt trained by Simon and Ed Crisford, remains on track for the Commonwealth Cup despite losing his unbeaten record in his seasonal debut at Haydock's Sandy Lane race.

After an impressive juvenile campaign that saw him win two Group One races, Vandeek finished third in the Sandy Lane behind Inisherin and Orne. Despite the tough ground conditions, Vandeek's connections are pleased with his performance and are looking forward to a run at Royal Ascot.

Meanwhile, KHK Racing's Sakheer, trained by Roger Varian, has faced some setbacks since winning the Mill Reef Stakes as a two-year-old. After a disappointing run in the Listed Cathedral Stakes at Salisbury, Sakheer was scoped and found to have an issue that will require treatment before his return to the track.

Despite the challenges, connections remain optimistic about both Vandeek and Sakheer's future races, with plans to regroup and find the right opportunities for both talented colts.
