Vandeek finished strong third-place in the July Cup
Simon Crisford is optimistic about Vandeek's prospects for the rest of the season following a strong third-place finish in the July Cup at Newmarket.
The talented sprinter had a successful juvenile campaign, but his three-year-old season has been inconsistent.
After missing out on a race at Royal Ascot due to unsatisfactory blood results, Vandeek returned to the track in the July Cup, where he finished behind Mill Stream and Swingalong.
Despite not winning, connections are pleased with his performance and believe he has plenty of potential moving forward.
Trainer Simon Crisford is considering future races for Vandeek, including the Prix Maurice de Gheest and the Sprint Cup at Haydock. Meanwhile, Karl Burke is eyeing the Sprint Cup at Haydock as the next target for Swingalong, who finished a close second in the July Cup.
Both trainers are confident in their horses' abilities and are looking forward to seeing them continue to progress throughout the season.
