After unexpectedly winning at Royal Ascot, Unequal Love is returning to her original plan by competing in the William Hill Summer Stakes at York on Friday. The Listed winner started her season at Newmarket and then finished fifth in Ireland's Group Two Greenlands Stakes. Despite initially planning to skip Royal Ascot, Unequal Love's appearance at the request of owner Patricia Thompson paid off with a victory in the Wokingham Stakes.
Chris Richardson of Cheveley Park Stud praised Unequal Love's performance at Ascot, noting her beauty and potential for progress. Facing off against Unequal Love is Great Generation, winner of the Chartwell Fillies’ Stakes and trained by Marco Botti. Adaay In Devon, trained by Rod Millman, has also had a successful season with three wins and strong performances in higher company.
William Haggas will have two runners in the race, including Pink Crystal. Other contenders include Raqiya and Funny Story, who finished first and second at the Cathedral Stakes in Salisbury. All trainers are optimistic about their horses' chances, with Adaay In Devon particularly thriving on soft ground.
