Twomey is changing his plans for the Ascot trip

Following her second-place finish in the Irish 1,000 Guineas, A Lilac Rolla, trained by Paddy Twomey, may choose to skip Royal Ascot and instead focus on Group targets in other locations. The Harry Angel filly had a successful start to her career as a two-year-old and won the Priory Belle at Leopardstown in her seasonal debut at three.

Despite starting at 12-1 in the Curragh Classic, A Lilac Rolla finished second behind Karl Burke’s Fallen Angel, the favourite at 11-4. Both A Lilac Rolla and stablemate Purple Lily, who finished fifth in the race, are in good form following their runs and are set to pursue different targets in their upcoming races.

While A Lilac Rolla holds an entry for the Coronation Cup at Royal Ascot, it is unlikely she will compete there. Instead, races like the Minstrel Stakes at the Curragh and the Prix Rothschild at Deauville are being considered for her next outing.

Purple Lily, who finished behind A Lilac Rolla in the Irish Guineas, aims for the Pretty Polly Stakes at the Curragh after a strong performance in the Salsabil Stakes. With the form of that race being boosted by the winner going on to win the Oaks, Purple Lily’s chances in the Pretty Polly Stakes look promising.

Twomey is optimistic about their chances in upcoming races, especially after his previous success in the Pretty Polly with La Petite Coco.
