Tounsivator Triumphs at Fairyhouse
Tounsivator, trained by Willie Mullins and ridden by Danny Mullins, claimed victory in the Bar One Racing Royal Bond Novice Hurdle at Fairyhouse, defeating four stablemates in the process.
Sent off at 12-1, Tounsivator upset the odds-on favourite Romeo Coolio (1-2), trained by Gordon Elliott. After mounting a strong challenge in the final two furlongs, Tounsivator drew level over the last hurdle and battled gamely to secure a two-and-a-half-length victory. Sea Of Sands completed the placings in third.
Willie Mullins praised the winner, noting his summer campaign likely gave him a fitness edge.
“I thought every horse we ran had a chance if they delivered their best, but Tounsivator might have had the edge in fitness,” said Mullins. “He’s been a solid performer since joining us, and this was a great result for his syndicate owners.”
Purchased by Temple Bloodstock for a modest sum, Tounsivator’s success reflects astute buying by owner Aubrey McMahon, who also owned this year’s English Cesarewitch winner.
Looking ahead, Mullins indicated a likely next target over Christmas, noting the gelding’s preference for similar ground conditions.
