Tizzard Set to Lead Modest British Squad in Grand National

In the upcoming Randox Grand National at Aintree, Eldorado Allen, trained by Joe Tizzard, will be one of the few British horses representing the home side. Eldorado Allen has demonstrated his ability in staying chases, with notable achievements such as winning the 2022 Denman Chase and securing second place in both the Charlie Hall and Betfair Chase during the same season. In the current season, he finished fourth in the Coral Gold Cup.

However, Eldorado Allen made a temporary switch to hurdles and had a single outing in January. In his most recent race, the Ultima at the Cheltenham Festival, he was pulled up on heavy ground. Tizzard is hopeful that the conditions at Aintree will be faster, as he believes Eldorado Allen performs better on a firmer surface. The trainer mentioned that the horse has had a couple of disappointing runs but has shown a preference for better ground as he has matured.

Tizzard pointed out Eldorado Allen's strong performance in the Coral Gold Cup, where he finished fourth. The horse demonstrated his staying power and displayed class throughout the race, settling into a good rhythm. Tizzard expressed a preference for the ground to dry out a bit, admitting that he would appreciate decent soft ground for Eldorado Allen.

Whilst Tizzard acknowledged that Eldorado Allen has a chance of running well, he emphasised that it's no more than that. Nevertheless, he expressed gratitude for the opportunity to have a runner in such prestigious races. Eldorado Allen has brought many memorable moments to Tizzard and his team, and Tizzard hopes the horse can find a good rhythm, stay competitive, and generate excitement amongst the spectators as the race progresses.
