Thurles Meeting Cancelled

Due to continuous heavy rainfall, Thurles Racecourse has become unsuitable for today's racing.

A significant 7mm of rain has fallen since 7.30 am, exacerbating the already heavy conditions caused by an overnight downpour of 10mm. Racecourse officials were closely monitoring the situation and had previously indicated the possibility of a further update. However, the recent heavy rain in the past couple of hours has forced the cancellation of today's fixture. Lorcan Wyer, the Clerk of the Course at IHRB, shared the announcement on X (formerly Twitter), saying

“Unfortunately, due to the vast volume of water in a short space of time, we have no option but to cancel the meeting scheduled for today. There is just not enough time for the water to soak into the ground”
