The next performance for Clarendon House shall be postponed

Robert Cowell has halted plans for Clarendon House following an unexpected incident during the Dash at Epsom on Derby day, where the six-year-old failed to leave the stalls at the start.

The race proceeded without him, and despite eventually joining the field, Clarendon House lagged far behind, finishing last, a considerable 24 lengths behind the winner, Dream Composer, ridden by Tom Marquand.

This disappointing turn of events comes after a remarkable victory in a York handicap during the Dante Festival. Now, Cowell, based in Newmarket, aims to address the issue before determining Clarendon House's next steps.

"He's never exhibited this behaviour before," Cowell commented. "While he's known to be a bit quirky, he has never encountered gate issues. We've enlisted the help of the Withefords, specialists in this area, to assess him on Thursday and provide assistance. It's crucial to address this problem promptly to prevent it from escalating."

Cowell emphasised the urgency of addressing the issue, hoping it's an isolated incident rather than a recurring problem.
