The ground is rated as 'good' at Doncaster

The ground at Doncaster is expected to be rated as 'good' when the Betfred St Leger meeting kicks off on Thursday. As of Monday afternoon, the track was already described as good, and with only light rain predicted for the week ahead, the weather is unlikely to pose any issues for officials at Town Moor.

The meeting, which runs from Thursday to Sunday, features the St Leger as its highlight on Saturday.

Clerk of the course David Attwood commented, "We currently have good ground and have largely avoided the heavy rain that has affected other areas. We received just two millimetres of rain last night and this morning. While the forecast suggests unsettled weather and the possibility of a few more showers, the ground should remain in excellent condition."

Attwood added, "Unless there’s a significant shift in the weather, we expect the ground to stay close to good throughout the week. We’ve largely escaped the heavy rain this summer, which has been beneficial. The grass cover is in great shape, and we’re very pleased with the condition of the track."

He noted, "The ground should hold up well. If we don’t get additional rain, it might firm up slightly to good to firm in places, but we don’t anticipate any extreme changes. Overall, we’re very satisfied with the current conditions."
