Tate still needs to decide the next options for Electric Storm

James Tate was disappointed after narrowly missing out on victory in big races at both Chelmsford and Deauville on Sunday. Electric Storm showed improvement but fell just short by a short neck in the Group Three Prix de Ris-Orangis, while Cloud Cover, fresh off a win at Newcastle, was also narrowly defeated in the Queen Charlotte Fillies’ Stakes.

Tate described the day as frustrating, acknowledging that both horses earned black type despite their close losses. Electric Storm, in particular, was deemed unlucky by jockey Ryan Moore due to a series of obstacles hindering her progress. Tate mentioned potential future races for both horses, with Electric Storm possibly targeting the Haydock Sprint Cup and Ascot on Champions Day.

Cloud Cover, on the other hand, may aim for a fillies’ Listed race at Deauville in November. Tate expressed some uncertainty about transitioning to grass racing but indicated a decision would be made in the coming days based on her condition and performance.
