Tamfana will continue her quest for a Group One victory on Saturday, as David Menuisier’s standout filly is among the 11 confirmed runners for the Virgin Bet Sun Chariot Stakes at Newmarket.
While much attention will be on the potential first-ever showdown between the John and Thady Gosden-trained stars, Inspiral and Nashwa, Menuisier’s filly is no stranger to top-level competition. She heads into the Rowley Mile contest after a confidence-boosting win in the Group Three Atalanta Stakes at Sandown in late August, showcasing her class and adaptability over a mile.
Following his recent success with Sirona at Newmarket, the Sussex-based French trainer is excited to saddle Tamfana, a daughter of Soldier Hollow, for this high-profile race.
Menuisier remarked: "Hopefully Sirona’s win on Friday was a dress rehearsal! Tamfana is in great form, and we’re hoping for some luck. She deserves a Group One win, and so do her owners—and the trainer!"
He added, "She was excellent at Sandown and has been placed in three Group Ones this season. It’s been a challenging year, but we’re hopeful our calls for a win are finally heard."
In addition to defending champion Inspiral and her stablemate Nashwa, the Sun Chariot could also see the likes of fellow Gosden fillies Running Lion and Friendly Soul, 1000 Guineas winner Elmalka, Rogue Millennium, Darnation, See The Fire, and Aidan O’Brien’s duo of Wingspan and Ylang Ylang.
