Soloman Lane Delivers for Supporters

In a carefully navigated performance, Soloman Lane surged ahead in the skilled riders' handicap chase spanning 2m5f at Leopardstown.

Under the command of jockey David Doyle, the nine-year-old gelding emerged as the 9/4 favourite, despite earlier morning odds reaching as high as 7/1.

Doyle expertly guided Soloman Lane past Baldur's Gate in the closing moments, securing a commanding victory by two and a quarter lengths over the 6/1 second-place finisher. Marronstown followed closely behind in third, trailing by a length and a half at 11/2.

Reflecting on the triumph, trainer Martin Hassett commented,

“The previous outing was marred by unfavourable ground conditions. Today, with the rain pouring down, I was apprehensive, but the track held up well.
He possesses more potential than what's been demonstrated so far, but he thrives on ideal circumstances.
I advised David, 'Clear the first three hurdles, and victory is within reach.' In the past, his jumping was a concern, but today he was impeccable.
David's performance was commendable; he's a skilled young rider with immense talent.
Securing this win is truly gratifying; Soloman Lane exhibited remarkable resilience. Perhaps one of the finest jumpers we've had.
He's had limited race exposure, faced challenges, and is a robust, raw talent. Patience was key, and with minimal wear, we aim to continue his progress, possibly even pursuing summer competitions if the rains persist.”
