Skellet late run brought a win for Beckett at Sandown

Skellet showcased a strong late run to win the Listed Pequod 20 Years Of Seaworthiness Fortune Stakes at Sandown, overcoming Checkandchallenge by a neck at 100-30. After tough races in the Irish 1,000 Guineas and Coronation Stakes, the Ralph Beckett-trained filly appreciated the drop to a mile, with Hector Crouch taking over in the saddle.

Barry Mahon of Juddmonte noted her recent improvement and potential for further growth, hinting at another run before making future plans.

Meanwhile, Cosmic Year, trained by Harry Charlton, impressed on his debut, winning the Sir Michael Stoute – Farewell And Thank You Novice Stakes by six and a half lengths. Oisin Murphy praised the two-year-old, who is by Kingman and out of Group One winner Passage Of Time, suggesting he could handle seven furlongs next.

Additionally, Prince Of The Seas confirmed his promise with a win in the Orbital Veterinary Services EBF Maiden Stakes, defeating Wild Nature by a length and a half. Crouch expressed confidence in his potential as a future staying prospect.
