Sir Alex Ferguson's Spirit Dancer Set to Compete in Prestigious Neom Turf Cup in Saudi Arabia

Richard Fahey has confirmed that Spirit Dancer, a seven-year-old horse trained by Sir Alex Ferguson, is on track to compete in the highly anticipated Neom Turf Cup in Saudi Arabia later this month.

Following their remarkable triumph in the Bahrain International Trophy, where Spirit Dancer pocketed an impressive £500,000, the legendary former Manchester United manager, along with co-owners Peter Done and Ged Mason, will strive for further international success.

Spirit Dancer's recent commendable performance in the Jebel Hatta at Meydan has served as a valuable preparation for the upcoming $2 million event on February 24. Fahey expressed his delight with the Dubai run and is confident that it has primed the horse for a remarkable performance in the Neom Turf Cup.

While the allure of the Saudi Cup was present, a decision was made to opt for the Neom Turf Cup, as the distance of nine furlongs on dirt seemed too sharp for Spirit Dancer. Fahey believes that the horse's true potential lies in a longer distance of a mile and a half.

Reflecting on their previous triumph in Bahrain, where Spirit Dancer showcased his exceptional abilities, the owners, including Sir Alex Ferguson, eagerly anticipate another exhilarating venture in the Middle East. With high hopes and barring any setbacks, Fahey predicted a dazzling display from Spirit Dancer in the extended 10-furlong turf contest on February 24.
