Signor Ferrari secured a victory at County Meath's track

Signor Ferrari justified expectations with a decisive burst of speed over a furlong out to secure victory in the opening Fairyhouse Summer Season Claiming Race at County Meath's track.

Previously narrowly defeated over the same course and distance in May, Johnny Feane's three-year-old had shown some inconsistency in subsequent outings after a maiden win earlier in the season at Cork. However, the Invincible Army gelding demonstrated his potential once more with a second career triumph.

Initially held towards the rear as Guest Star and Your Day To Shine battled for the lead, jockey Hugh Horgan timed his move perfectly aboard the well-supported 11/8 favourite, making significant progress from off the pace to take command over a furlong from home.

Showing determination in the final stretch, Signor Ferrari surged clear inside the last furlong, though he had to fend off late challenges from Latin and Tartaraghan.

Reflecting on the race, winning jockey Hugh Horgan remarked, “For a few seconds I was starting to go into panic mode and thought it mightn't have worked out. Thank God I got a bit of room and I got through, and he stuck his head out where it mattered. He has a lovely turn of foot for a mile-and-a-quarter, and he stays it very well. He's a nice horse and an easy ride.”
