“She's Going to be Absolutely Amazing”: Young Female Horse Achieves Unprecedented AU$10m Price, Breaking Records

The sole offspring of the renowned mare Winx has achieved a remarkable feat by fetching a record-breaking price of AU$10 million (£5,219,055) at auction, purchased by one of her esteemed co-owners.

The 2022 filly ("Lot 391"), sired by Pierro, was offered by the esteemed Coolmore operation and fetched a remarkable price when acquired by Woppitt Bloodstock after a thrilling competition with John Stewart of Resolute Racing during the second day of the Inglis Easter Yearling Sale in Australia.

At present, she is the only surviving descendant of Winx, the remarkable mare who won 25 Group Ones throughout her illustrious racing career.

The auction house has announced that this marks a groundbreaking milestone in terms of the price achieved for a young female horse and establishes a groundbreaking price record for yearlings in the Southern Hemisphere.

"Initially, the purchase of this horse was not on our radar. However, after putting her up for auction, our family began to feel a void without our beloved 'daughter/granddaughter'. This unexpected turn of events led us to make the decision to bring her back home if we had the opportunity," shared Debbie Kepitis from Woppitt Bloodstock after the sale.

We feel incredibly fortunate to have acquired this young female horse on behalf of my loved ones. She's forever committed to being Australian, and she's going to be absolutely marvellous. We are deeply grateful to everyone worldwide who has embraced this. Your support has made this journey incredibly exciting, and we are fortunate to have emerged as champions.

Coolmore's Tom Magnier expressed his astonishment at the unprecedented nature of the situation.
