Several good options might suit Bluestocking
Bluestocking will aim for top-level success against her own sex later in the autumn after a next performance in the Juddmonte International Stakes at York.
The Juddmonte-owned daughter of Camelot, who secured her first Group One win earlier this summer, raced over the same course and distance where she excelled in the Middleton Stakes in May. She finished fourth behind the impressive City Of Troy.
This marks the second consecutive time Ralph Beckett’s four-year-old has shown her mettle against the top competitors, having previously finished second to Goliath in the King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot last month.
Following her solid effort at York, Bluestocking will now take a short break before resuming her campaign later in the year.
“We were absolutely delighted with her performance. Looking back, it’s going to be one of the standout races of the year, and she ran a commendable fourth,” said Barry Mahon.
“European racing manager for Juddmonte. You can’t be anything but pleased with her run. While everyone aims for a win, she performed exceptionally well on the ground, which might have been a bit quicker than she prefers. She’s never let us down and came out of the race well. She’ll have a brief break to freshen up before we plan her autumn campaign.”
Bluestocking is set to consider races at ParisLongchamp on Arc weekend and British Champions Day when she returns. A potential run in the Prix de l’Opera at Longchamp is more likely than a bid for the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, as the latter would require a costly supplementary entry.
She may also join Andrew Balding-trained Kalpana in the Qipco British Champions Fillies & Mares Stakes at Ascot on October 19, a race she narrowly missed out on last year.
