Seddon, the favoured and adaptable performer of John McConnell, is scheduled to make a comeback at the Punchestown Festival.
Last year at the Cheltenham Festival, the 11-year-old gave his connections an amazing day at the races by winning the Magners Plate Handicap Chase.
After that, he switched back to hurdles for Punchestown's main meeting, the Fitzwilliam Sports Handicap Hurdle, where he earned another significant victory to top off a great season.
This season's jumping campaign started with a run on the Flat and got underway when he lost by only a neck in the Deacy Gilligan Hurdle at Galway in September.
Then, when Seddon sailed for Far Hills, New Jersey, to compete in the American Grand National, he tried to imitate Shark Hanlon's Hewick. He finished third in the race for owners of the Galaxy Horse Racing Syndicate.
The gelding had a setback following the run and had not been seen since; however, he has since returned and is targeted for the Punchestown Festival, marking the beginning of a campaign that will extend into the warmer months.
“He’s Punchestown-bound and hopefully he goes there in good shape, that’s the plan with him,” added McConnell. “We haven’t had much of a campaign with him so we’re hoping we can get him back to form and kick on with him.”
