Saeed praises Dubai Millennium as a “special” horse

Saeed bin Suroor has praised Dubai Millennium as a “special” horse following his induction into the Qipco British Champions Series Hall of Fame. Known for his remarkable versatility, Dubai Millennium excelled on both turf and dirt, a feat City Of Troy aims to replicate this year.

Originally named Yaazer and trained by David Loder, Dubai Millennium won nine of ten races. His sole defeat came in the 1999 Derby, where he finished ninth behind Oath. He later claimed victories in the Prix Jacques le Marois, Queen Elizabeth II Stakes, Dubai World Cup, and Prince of Wales’s Stakes.

In a public vote, Dubai Millennium edged out other champions like Daylami, Giant’s Causeway, and Montjeu to join legends such as Frankel, Brigadier Gerard, and Nijinsky in the Hall of Fame.

Bin Suroor remarked, “Dubai Millennium was exceptional, winning at the highest level on both turf and dirt. No horse has matched his achievements since. It’s an honour to see him recognised by the public.”

Dubai Millennium's legacy extends beyond his racing career, he made a significant impact as a sire, producing Dubawi, one of the world’s top stallions.

The Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place on Champions Day at Ascot on October 19. Dubai Millennium, who was ridden by Frankie Dettori in all but one race, will be honoured for his extraordinary contributions to horse racing.
