In the upcoming My Pension Expert July Cup at Newmarket on Saturday, Inisherin will be up against 11 competitors, including older horses for the first time.
Trained by Kevin Ryan, Inisherin had a solid performance in the 2000 Guineas earlier this season, but has truly excelled in sprinting events. He claimed victory over Vandeek in the Sandy Lane at Haydock and put on an impressive display in the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot. Following in the footsteps of last year's winner Shaquille, Inisherin is aiming for July Cup glory.
Vandeek, despite missing Ascot due to a minor setback, is set to compete against Inisherin once again with hopes of a successful outing. River Tiber, the winner of last year's Coventry Stakes, will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing performance in the Irish Guineas and Jersey Stakes at Ascot as he returns to sprinting under Aidan O’Brien.
Among the three-year-olds is Clive Cox's Jasour, a winner of last year's July Stakes and third in the Commonwealth Cup. The older competitors include Ed Bethell's Regional, the winner of Haydock's Sprint Cup last season, and Kinross, who impressed in a recent race at Newcastle. Charlie Hills will be represented by dual Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes winners Khaadem and Mitbaahy, while Karl Burke's Swingalong aims to improve on a close second-place finish at Ascot.
Jane Chapple-Hyam's Mill Stream, Tim Easterby's Art Power, and Charlie Fellowes-trained Vadream complete the lineup for what promises to be an exciting race at Newmarket.
