Rolla of Twomey maintains an unblemished record
A Lilac Rolla (4/1), ridden by Billy Lee for Paddy Twomey, emerged victorious in the Ballylinch Stud 'Priory Belle' Stakes, keeping her flawless winning streak intact.
Proven to excel at both Cork and the Curragh (where she triumphed over the eventual Prix Marcel Boussac champion Opera Singer) during the previous summer, this talented filly, sired by the renowned Harry Angel, tactfully positioned herself in the middle of the pack and skillfully found a suitable opening in the early stages of the home stretch.
As the race heated up, A Lilac Rolla found herself in a thrilling battle with Kitty Rose, who had the advantage of the rail. Despite this, A Lilac Rolla quickly adapted and managed to take a slight lead in the final furlong.
Kitty Rose displayed an impressive mindset, relentlessly pursuing the victor at every stage. Only a slight distance separated them at the finish line. Buttons made a strong surge towards the end, securing third place just a couple of lengths behind the second-place finisher.
Following the race, Paddy Twomey, who has achieved success with multiple horses this season, expressed his confidence in A Lilac Rolla's abilities. He was particularly pleased with her recent performance, which showcased her adaptability and resilience.
It's been a while since she last raced after her second victory last year, as she has grown, and it was essential to allow her some time to develop. I'm pleased with the progress she's made during the winter training.
