Red Viburnum's Triumph at Naas

Red Viburnum, trained by Dermot Weld and owned by Moyglare Stud Farm, made a successful return to the track at Naas. The Frankel-filly, ridden by Chris Hayes, won the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies & Mares Maiden, marking her first race in almost ten months.

Having previously finished fifth in the Moyglare Stud Stakes last September, Red Viburnum showed a good turn of foot to take the lead a furlong from the finish line, comfortably defeating Evening Blossom.

Weld explained that Red Viburnum had taken longer to mature this year, but the patience in training had paid off. He believes that she will benefit from the race fitness and expects her to improve for her next outing, likely over seven furlongs.
