Rambler's brilliance under Walsh's guidance

Amateur rider Cal Shine achieved impressive jumps with Knockbrack Rambler along the straight, securing victory in the 80-95 handicap hurdle at Cork.

Under the guidance of trainer Brendan Walsh, the gelding made a strong challenge three hurdles from the finish line in the two-and-a-half mile race. Taking the lead at the penultimate hurdle, Knockbrack Rambler faced a threat from Shana Cloon. However, Shine and his mount responded with determination, executing a flawless jump at the final hurdle and crossing the line three-parts-of-a-length ahead of their competitors.

Knockbrack Rambler, a progeny of Leading Light, was competing over a longer distance after a lacklustre performance over two miles at Clonmel last month. Prior to that, he finished fourth over the same distance at Punchestown.

Walsh commented: "The ground isn't as deep today as it was the last day and is drying out. I walked it on Tuesday and it wasn't too deep so we took a chance. Cal gave him a great ride, he waited and waited and came with one run.”
