Racing League came up with a revised race program

The Racing League is back at Yarmouth on Thursday night with a revised race program for 2024 designed to increase field sizes and ensure competitive racing over the next six weeks.

After taking feedback from participants, organisers have decided to eliminate two-year-old nurseries from the schedule, which often struggled to attract enough entries.

Instead, there will be more handicaps in the 0-80 and 0-85 categories, aiming to level the competition and give all regions and trainers a chance to compete for a share of the £2 million prize fund.

These changes should help ensure that as many of the 42 Racing League races as possible have full fields of 14, addressing a previous criticism of the competition.

CEO Jeremy Wray explained the reasoning behind the changes, stating that they listened to feedback from trainers and adjusted the schedule accordingly to increase competitiveness and participation.

The Racing League will feature races over six Thursdays, with a £75,000 feature handicap still headlining each card. Wray even joked that Derby hero City Of Troy could enter, adding a touch of quality to the competition.

The focus remains on providing high-quality, competitive racing, with improved graphics, an updated scoring system, and efforts to maintain high standards across the board. Wray is confident that the Racing League will continue to offer racing fans something unique to enjoy during the summer Flat season.
