Pursuit of Glory: Clarendon House Aims for Hever Title

Excitement builds for Southwell victor in prestigious sprint event.

Anticipation is mounting for Clarendon House following his triumph at Southwell, with connections optimistic about his upcoming performance in the prestigious BetUK Hever Sprint this Saturday.

Under the guidance of trainer Robert Cowell, the six-year-old speedster has shown remarkable improvement since undergoing a gelding operation. His recent commendable displays on the all-weather track at Wolverhampton and over the same course and distance have further bolstered expectations.

Despite finishing fourth in the esteemed Group Two Blue Point Sprint at Meydan on turf last month, Clarendon House's handlers remain confident in his abilities, making him a strong contender for victory this weekend.

Middleham Park Racing's Tim Palin shared his insights:

"Clarendon House set a new course record at Southwell in his recent outings, prompting us to test his mettle in the Group Two sprint at Meydan. His performance in Dubai reinforced his prowess on the Tapeta surface compared to other terrains".

The discussion with the handicapper has resulted in Clarendon House being rated at 112 on the all-weather and 107 on turf. With Diligent Harry effectively granting a 7lb advantage, the odds seem to be in Clarendon House's favour at Southwell.

Regarding the horse's future prospects, Palin mentioned,

"This upcoming race will mark Clarendon House's third qualifying run for Finals Day, providing us with additional options. While the Dash on Derby Day looms as his next major target, where he narrowly missed out last year, showcasing his prowess in high-speed encounters".

Among the challengers vying for victory alongside Clarendon House is Clive Cox's Diligent Harry, the victor of the Listed Kachy Stakes at Lingfield three weeks ago. Notable contenders include Juan Les Pins from Mick Appleby's stable and Thunderbear, a potential Irish contender under the tutelage of Jack Davison.
