Prix du Moulin was a potential option for Rosallion

Rosallion could be set for a tilt at the Prix du Moulin following his absence from a potential third clash with Notable Speech in the Sussex Stakes.

The Irish 2,000 Guineas and Royal Ascot winner was the favourite to take a 2-1 lead in his rivalry with Charlie Appleby’s Classic winner at Goodwood. However, he was sadly ruled out of the race on Tuesday due to a respiratory infection.

In Rosallion’s absence, Notable Speech seized the opportunity to bounce back from a disappointing performance in the St James’s Palace Stakes, securing a second Group One victory of the season after his Newmarket success.

While Richard Hannon was disappointed that Rosallion couldn’t match the achievements of Everleigh’s Canford Cliffs and Toronado, he praised Notable Speech’s impressive win and suggested that the Prix du Moulin at ParisLongchamp on September 8 might be a suitable target for Rosallion.

Hannon remarked to Racing TV that the winner had performed exceptionally well, and it was frustrating not to have been there. He expressed that he would prefer to miss the race rather than be left wondering 'what if' afterwards.

He added that it was a real shame for Goodwood and noted that many people had reached out to express their sympathy, which was appreciated. He assured that no harm had been done and that the horse would receive the best care, emphasising that Sheikh Mohammed Obaid, the owner, was very keen on ensuring the horse was well looked after.

Hannon continued by mentioning that the Prix du Moulin was a potential option if they could make it in time. He acknowledged that there were plenty of races ahead and, while they had targeted this one, they might need to adjust their plans. He assured that the horse would be back soon.
