Prix de la Forêt is the next port of call for Ramatuelle

Christopher Head’s Ramatuelle will make her return from a summer break to compete in the Prix de la Forêt before aiming for the Breeders’ Cup.

The chestnut filly, who dazzled as a two-year-old with a four-length victory in the Prix Robert Papin at Group Two level, was narrowly beaten by Vandeek in the Group One Prix Morny. This season, she finished second in the Prix Imprudence over seven furlongs and then challenged over a mile in the 1000 Guineas, where she was narrowly defeated by half a length in a close finish.

Her next outing was at Royal Ascot in the Coronation Stakes, where she finished third behind Porta Fortuna and Opera Singer. Both of these rivals have since enhanced the form, with Opera Singer winning the Nassau Stakes at Goodwood and Porta Fortuna capturing the Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket.

Ramatuelle has since had a summer break and is now being prepared for an extended campaign leading up to the Breeders’ Cup at Del Mar in November. Her immediate target is the Prix de la Forêt, a seven-furlong Group One race at ParisLongchamp on the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe card in early October.

Head commented, "She’s doing well and is preparing for the Prix de la Forêt, which will be her next race. We’ve given her a break because we have a plan to take her through to the Breeders’ Cup, so the Forêt will serve as a preparation for that."

He added, "She’s a brilliant filly, a really nice daughter of Justify. She was an exceptional two-year-old and nearly won the Guineas this season. Everything is going well with her, and so far, so good."
