Prescott goes with Trooper Bisdee to the Northumberland Plate
Sir Mark Prescott has confirmed that he will have two runners in Saturday's Jenningsbet Northumberland Plate, but his ante-post favourite Pledgeofallegiance will not be competing. Instead, Prescott will rely on Trooper Bisdee, who will be ridden by Hollie Doyle and True Legend.
After winning the Ascot Stakes last week, Pledgeofallegiance will not run in this weekend's race as Prescott believes it is too soon for another big handicap bid. Instead, the horse will be aimed at the two-and-a-half-mile handicap at Goodwood and the Cesarewitch later in the season.
Speaking on Sky Sports Racing, Prescott said, "Trooper Bisdee won well at Pontefract on Sunday and will carry a 5lb penalty. He goes on any ground except very soft and excels on firm ground. Hollie Doyle will ride him in the Northumberland Plate."
Prescott also confirmed that True Legend will run in the race with Cieren Fallon in the saddle. Despite some recent bad luck, Prescott believes True Legend deserves a win and is hopeful that he will perform well on the all-weather surface. The two-mile distance may be a challenge for the horse, but Prescott is optimistic about his chances.
