Powerful Glory might bring Dubai Duty Free glory for Fahey

Richard Fahey is aiming for a third victory in the Dubai Duty Free Mill Reef Stakes with the promising Powerful Glory. After winning his only race at Pontefract impressively, he will now face a significant step up to Group Two level at Newbury.

Fahey, based in Malton, has previously won the Mill Reef Stakes with Supplicant and Ribchester, the latter of whom went on to become a top-class colt, winning prestigious races such as the Prix Jacques le Marois and the Lockinge.

"He's a horse we've always held in high regard, and his work has been very easy," Fahey told Sky Sports Racing. "The plan on his debut was to take a lead and educate him, but he found himself in front after a few strides and settled into a good rhythm before quickening up."

Fahey was particularly impressed with how Powerful Glory finished strong, stating, "When he hit the line, that was his best part of the race. It’s exciting to see a nice horse perform like that."

Describing the colt, he added, "He’s a big, scopey horse and has physically improved since Pontefract. We haven’t rushed him, and his work has been excellent. You know you have something special when he’s keeping up with older horses."

Fahey believes Powerful Glory is more straightforward than Ribchester, saying, "He could be a bit keen, but he does everything right. Fingers crossed, he can prove just how special he is."
