Plontier secured a victory in Mulhern Leonard
Plontier, who has won 14 Flat races across Poland, France, and Spain, made a successful debut in Ireland by easily securing the Mulhern Leonard Chartered Accountants Maiden Hurdle.
The eight-year-old entire, owned by Stawomir Pegza and trained by Willie Mullins, stayed close to the pace before taking control at halfway. Despite a few minor errors, he pulled clear after the second-last hurdle to defeat Love Like This by 12 lengths.
Rated 93 on the Flat, Plontier is entered in the Ebor Handicap later this month.
Rider Paul Townend commented, “I’m very pleased with the performance, he has a great attitude towards jumping hurdles. He missed one or two, but that’s to be expected from a novice. He was keen to jump and handled the ground well, even though it wasn’t what he’s used to.”
