Opera Singer, Reigning European Champion and Aidan O'Brien's Filly, is Expected to Not Participate in the 1,000 Guineas Race
Despite being a top contender with odds as low as 4-1, Opera Singer is unlikely to run. However, there is a possibility that her stablemate, Brilliant, might take her place after securing a victory at the Curragh.
Opera Singer, a strong contender for the Qipco 1,000 Guineas, will unfortunately not be able to participate in the prestigious Fillies Classic due to a minor setback.
After an impressive performance last year, she emerged as the top juvenile filly in Europe by winning the Group 1 Prix Marcel Boussac with a comfortable five-length lead. But on May 5 Opera Singer's odds for the Newmarket dropped to as low as 4-1. However, trainer Aidan O'Brien recently disclosed that she missed two weeks of intensive training, making her participation in the race "more unlikely than likely."
As a result, Brilliant, who secured a victory for Ballydole on the opening day of the new Irish Flat Turf season at the Curragh by triumphing in a Group 3 race, has earned a spot at Newmarket instead.
O'Brien's squad for 2024 consists of a group of three-year-olds, which includes City Of Troy, who is highly favoured to win both the 2,000 Guineas and the Derby. Additionally, he has Henry Longfellow, who has also remained undefeated thus far.
