O'Brien eyeing to go for Coventry with Cowardofthecounty

Joseph O'Brien is tempted to take his promising juvenile Cowardofthecounty straight to Royal Ascot for the Coventry Stakes.

When they met for the first time at the Curragh last month, the Kodi Bear colt easily defeated the Aidan O'Brien-trained Whistlejacket by a margin of two and a half lengths.

With Little Big Bear's full brother Whistlejacket emerging victorious in a Listed race by nearly four lengths on his subsequent start, that form appears to be on fire right now.

In light of this, the Owning Hill handler is content to skip another run and go directly to the important meeting.

“He’s done really well and is a colt that we are really excited about. The plan is to go straight to the Coventry,” said O’Brien. “Whistlejacket looked really good and it’s exciting to have a horse that is in his league at home. We have the option of the Marble Hill but I think the preference is to go straight to the Coventry.”
