O'Brien expects Kyprios to make a significant run at Navan

Kyprios, owned by Aidan O'Brien, is one of 17 horses entered in the SBK Vintage Crop Stakes on Saturday. The Ballydoyle master expects the Galileo gelding to have a strong run on his seasonal debut.

A standout performer two years prior, having gone undefeated in six starts—four of which came at the highest level—the chestnut was sidelined for the majority of the previous campaign due to a serious joint infection.

On his return, he finished second in the Irish St Leger and held the same position at Ascot in October.

O'Brien told journalist Dave Keena: "He's a lovely relaxed horse and he only does what he has to do at home but he's moving very well. Everyone else that's around him is very happy with him and we think we're in a much better place starting than we were starting last year. I couldn't be happier with him really other than he's very lazy and just goes through the motions at home but I'm looking forward to getting him started. The plan was to go to Navan, then go to Leopardstown (Saval Beg Stakes) and then the Gold Cup, so hopefully everything will keep going well. We think he's fit enough. He will improve, obviously, because he hasn't run but he's not unfit and is well ready for the run so we'd be hoping that he'll run a very big race."
