Nicky Henderson Provides Encouraging Constitution Hill Update

Trainer Nicky Henderson has shared a positive update on Constitution Hill, following a setback during a recent workout that caused a stir in the Unibet Champion Hurdle betting scene and the wider racing community.

The esteemed figure in National Hunt racing was overseeing his Cheltenham Festival squad at Kempton Park on Tuesday morning. However, Henderson was taken aback by Constitution Hill's performance, which led to a concerning diagnosis upon further examination.

Providing an update on his X (formerly Twitter account) on Wednesday, Henderson expressed relief, stating,

"I am delighted to report that Constitution Hill appears in good spirits today. He is alert, healthy, and had a hearty meal last night. His temperature has remained stable both last night and this morning."

Henderson elaborated on the plan for the horses, mentioning,

"In line with the others who trained at Kempton yesterday, they are taking it easy today. They have been given a light workout and all seem to be in good health, enjoying a leisurely graze."

He added,

"Our intention is to resume riding them tomorrow, with Constitution Hill included. However, he will engage in gentle exercises for the next 48 hours at least, as we must consider his ongoing mild lung infection, which needs to show significant improvement before any strenuous training can resume."

Highlighting the importance of fresh air for equine respiratory health, Henderson emphasised,

"Monitoring the progress of his lungs is crucial. We plan to conduct another scope on Friday to assess the situation."
