Nicholls plans to consider bigger races for Maw Lam

Adrian Nicholls-trained Maw Lam is expected to switch back to five furlongs for her next race after narrowly missing out on a placing in the Duchess of Cambridge Stakes at Newmarket. The daughter of Acclamation had previously won her debut race before finishing second and third in two other prestigious races.

Nicholls mentioned that despite her ability to handle longer distances, Maw Lam could potentially excel in shorter races due to her versatility. He also discussed potential race options for her, including events at Naas, Deauville, and Newbury, as well as sales races and the Lowther Stakes.

Although Maw Lam is still developing and adjusting to longer distances, Nicholls believes she has the potential to compete at a high level in the future. He expressed his excitement about her progress and future prospects, emphasising the importance of winning a race before considering bigger events like the Breeders' Cup. Despite feeling slightly disappointed with her recent performance, Nicholls remains confident in Maw Lam's abilities and looks forward to her continued success on the track.
