Murray's star Bucanero Fuerte might miss the July Cup
Bucanero Fuerte's future plans are still being determined, as connections were unable to get their star sprinter ready in time for the July Cup at Newmarket. Despite winning the Phoenix Stakes last season, the horse suffered from travel sickness after returning to Ireland and had to miss Royal Ascot.
Trainer Adrian Murray had hoped Bucanero Fuerte would recover in time for the July Cup, but now it is unclear when the horse will return to racing. Murray believes that Bucanero Fuerte performs best on heavy ground and is considering several upcoming races including the Sapphire Stakes, Minstrel Stakes, Lennox Stakes, King George Stakes, and Nunthorpe.
Murray is now pinning his hopes on Arizona Blaze, who finished third in the Norfolk at Royal Ascot and placed well in the Railway Stakes. Another promising juvenile, California Dreamer, was narrowly beaten in the Airlie Stud Stakes and is expected to improve in future races.
Despite setbacks with Bucanero Fuerte, Murray remains optimistic about his other horses and is looking forward to the upcoming racing season.
