Murphy and King Join Forces for Unforgettable Victory at Limerick

Oscars Brother justifies favouritism at Limerick Racecourse.

Oscars Brother, the 15/8 favourite who was heavily backed into 11/10, delivered a resounding victory in the Mother's Day At Limerick Racecourse Maiden Hurdle, living up to the expectations of his supporters.

Under the guidance of jockey Dan King for the Mak King Racing Syndicate and Damian Murphy, the consistent Malinas gelding showcased his prowess, having finished second in all of his previous four public appearances. He surged ahead as they approached the final hurdle, leaving his competitors trailing behind.

The Story So Far, initially backed at 6/4 but drifting out to 2/1 on the track as a significant market mover, faltered into fourth place when unseating two hurdles from the finish. The pace-setter, Mickie Angel, put up a valiant effort but could only watch as Oscars Brother galloped to victory, finishing a remarkable thirteen lengths ahead.

Notably, the winning jockey, Dan King, is part of the Mak King Racing Syndicate, with handler Damian Murphy expressing his delight for King's success. Murphy praised King's dedication, recalling how King had been honing his skills since the age of 12 and lives just a mile away in Kilbrin.

Speaking about Oscars Brother, Murphy commended the gelding's stamina, emphasizing his love for long gallops and predicting that he would excel on firmer ground. Murphy revealed that they had focused solely on the present race and had not planned beyond that. Reflecting on his own workload, Murphy mentioned his involvement in pre-training and various equestrian activities, referencing his past work with Trevor Hemming's horses and lamenting Hemming's absence. Despite being occupied at the moment, Murphy acknowledged the upcoming challenges with the approaching summer months.
