Mullins Anticipates Discussion Over Lossiemouth's Racing Plans
Willie Mullins has hinted at a potential reassessment of Lossiemouth's Cheltenham Festival target, stating that a discussion will take place among connections regarding the matter.
Following the unfortunate withdrawal of Constitution Hill from defending the Unibet Champion Hurdle title, Gordon Elliott has hinted at the possibility of redirecting Irish Point from the Stayers' Hurdle due to this development.
Currently the frontrunner for the Close Brothers Mares' Hurdle, Lossiemouth's connections had previously identified this race as her objective following a remarkable victory in the Unibet Hurdle at Cheltenham in January.
While Mullins now boasts State Man as the new favourite for the Champion Hurdle, the decision on whether to alter Lossiemouth's plan is still pending, with the mare being one of the five remaining entries for the Closutton team.
Expressing empathy towards Nicky Henderson and Michael Buckley, Mullins acknowledged the unpredictable nature of the sport with a week left until the festival and emphasised that anything can happen in horse racing.
When asked about the possibility of supplementing additional entries, Mullins noted that they have numerous contenders in contention and confirmed that Lossiemouth remains a consideration, with a discussion on the cards.
