Monitoring Weather Conditions: Pat Fahy's Attention on History Of Fashion's Eider Challenge

Pat Fahy keeps a keen eye on the weather forecast as his History Of Fashion gears up for Saturday's Eider Handicap Chase at Newcastle.

The seasoned ten-year-old has shown promise in recent staying chases, securing a commfendable second place in a Listed chase at Fairyhouse last December. However, a recent outing at Down Royal on soft ground resulted in a disappointing pull-up.

Fahy remains cautiously optimistic, stating,

"We may confirm his entry, but reports suggest rain in the area, resulting in heavy ground that may not be to his liking. Our initial plan was contingent on favourable ground conditions”.

Reflecting on History Of Fashion's recent performances, Fahy notes,

"He shone in the Leinster National at Naas last year, securing second place, and displayed a strong third-place finish at the Punchestown Festival over a gruelling 3m7f handicap. These are races we may consider if circumstances allow”.

The conditions at Down Royal proved challenging for History Of Fashion, with Fahy remarking,

"The soft and tacky ground didn't play to his strengths. While he delivered a solid performance at the Porterstown at Fairyhouse, the ground ultimately proved challenging”.

Looking ahead, Fahy recalls History Of Fashion's past experiences, including a run in the Scottish National, where he lacked the maturity to contend effectively. Jockey Phillip Enright noted the course's sharp turns, impacting their performance.

Fahy remains optimistic about History Of Fashion's prospects, eyeing the bet365 Gold Cup at Sandown as a potential target. Should an opportunity arise, Fahy is keen to enter History Of Fashion in the prestigious race.
