Mill Stream left Inisherin in fifth place by winning the July Cup
Mill Stream emerged victorious in the My Pension Expert July Cup at Newmarket, leaving hot favourite Inisherin in fifth place. In a surprising turn of events, the Kevin Ryan-trained Inisherin, who had impressed at Royal Ascot, was unable to beat the 11-8 market leader.
Art Power and Swingalong led the field for much of the six-furlong race, with Swingalong taking the lead in the final furlong. However, Mill Stream, trained by Jane Chapple-Hyam, made a late surge and won by a neck.
Vandeek, Art Power, and Inisherin finished in third, fourth, and fifth place respectively. Chapple-Hyam expressed her excitement over the win, attributing the victory to the weather conditions and her team's hard work.
Buick, who rode Mill Stream to victory, completed a four-timer on the day and secured his 100th Group One win. He praised the horse's performance and expressed his thrill at winning the July Cup for the first time.
