Mill Stream is getting ready to be back in British Champions Sprint

Jane Chapple-Hyam is optimistic about Mill Stream's prospects as he reverts to the six-furlong distance for Saturday's Qipco British Champions Sprint at Ascot. After a triumphant victory in the July Cup, expectations were high for his performance in the Prix Maurice de Gheest at Deauville. However, he finished fifth, unable to handle the added half-furlong distance.

Chapple-Hyam praised Mill Stream’s consistency throughout the season, which included wins in both the Duke of York and July Cup. "He's been a true flagbearer for us this year," she noted. The trainer explained that, despite hopes he could manage the longer distance on a flat track, the six-and-a-half furlongs proved challenging. Fortunately, all has gone well in training since, with a recent satisfactory workout at Newmarket.

In addition to Mill Stream, the race features notable contenders: previous winners Art Power and Kinross, Montassib, and Wokingham victor Unequal Love. Andrew Balding's Kalpana, having recently claimed two wins, aims to shine in the British Champions Fillies & Mares Stakes despite potential soft ground concerns. Sir Mark Prescott’s Tiffany is also a formidable competitor with three wins from four starts this season.

Meanwhile, in the Qipco British Champions Long Distance Cup, Kyprios stands out as the frontrunner, while challengers like Tom Clover's Al Nayyir add to the anticipation of this exciting event.
