Menuisier mentioned the Prix de l’Opera as a possible next target for Tamfana
David Menuisier is planning to regroup after Tamfana did not perform as expected in the Grand Prix de Paris at Longchamp on Saturday.
The Soldier Hollow filly, out of a Zoffany mare named Tres Magnifique, was successful as a juvenile and won a Group Three race at Chantilly. As a three-year-old, she started well with a third-place finish at Deauville followed by a strong run in the 1000 Guineas where she finished fourth.
Her performance in the Prix de Diane led to a decision to supplement her for the Grand Prix de Paris. Despite holding her own in a field of colts, the longer trip proved challenging and she finished fourth.
Menuisier had considered the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe for Tamfana, but now plans may change to target races over shorter distances.
After the race, Menuisier commented on Tamfana's performance, saying, "It was important to know where we were, we needed to have a guide on what to do. It was always the main target to aim at the Arc at the end of the year, we have to review that now. "
While no specific plans have been confirmed yet, Menuisier mentioned the Prix de l’Opera as a possible next target for Tamfana. He will monitor her condition over the coming days before making any decisions on her future races.
