Maurizio decided to go with Soumillon for Royal Ascot
Christophe Soumillon has been confirmed as the rider for both Big Rock and Blue Rose Cen at Royal Ascot next week. Trainer Maurizio Guarnieri replaced the regular rider, Aurelien Lemaitre, with Soumillon due to his extensive experience at Ascot and impressive record in big races worldwide.
Big Rock, who won the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes on Champions Day under the training of Christopher Head, had a disappointing seasonal reappearance in the Lockinge at Newbury. However, Guarnieri is hopeful for Big Rock's chances in the Queen Anne, especially with forecasted rain that could improve the ground conditions.
Blue Rose Cen, a three-time Group One winner last season for Head, made a pleasing return in the Prix d’Ispahan and will compete in the Prince of Wales’s Stakes at Royal Ascot.
Guarnieri praised Soumillon as a world-class jockey and expressed confidence in his ability to ride both horses to success at Ascot. He also highlighted the potential for Big Rock to perform well with improved ground conditions.
Overall, Guarnieri is optimistic about the prospects of both Big Rock and Blue Rose Cen at Royal Ascot and believes that Soumillon's experience and skill make him the best choice for the rides.
