Marshman's upcoming plan includes targeting the Abernant race

After securing a second-place finish in the Cammidge Trophy, Duke of York Stakes is the next target for Marshman.

Karl Burke's Marshman, who had a pleasing second-place finish in the Cammidge Trophy, is scheduled to participate in a Group race. After primarily competing in shorter distances last year, the four-year-old horse returned to six furlongs for his first race of the season. Guided by Clifford Lee, the colt started as a 3-1 joint-favourite and delivered an impressive performance, coming in second by a neck as he was overtaken by Montassib, trained by William Haggas, at the finish line. Based on this performance, it has been decided to have Marshman compete again in the six-furlong race, the same distance in which he secured second place in the Gimcrack as a two-year-old. The upcoming races on the agenda for Marshman in the spring are the Group Three Abernant at Newmarket and the Group Two Duke of York Stakes.

Nick Bradley, the owner of Nick Bradley Racing, expressed his satisfaction with Marshman's performance in the race, despite being beaten by a strong competitor. He mentioned that Marshman led the race and was only narrowly defeated by a horse that had favourable conditions. Bradley considered Marshman's performance to be among the best in his career. The plan now is for Marshman to compete in the Abernant at Newmarket and potentially the Duke of York race.

Bradley had a successful meeting overall, as Look Back Smiling, trained by Gemma Tutty, claimed first place in the Spring Mile Handicap. Bradley praised the track conditions and the jockey's skill in guiding Look Back Smiling to victory. The horse's future races will depend on the ground conditions, with a long-term goal of targeting a valuable handicap at Ascot in October, specifically the Balmoral Handicap on Champions Day.

Bradley also spoke highly of Indication Ember, a promising recruit trained by Grant Tuer, who finished third in her debut race, the Brocklesby. He mentioned that her pedigree indicated a preference for soft ground, and they are planning to race her at Redcar on 15th April. Bradley expressed confidence in Indication Ember's abilities and stated that he wouldn't trade her for any other horse in the race. The positive performance added excitement to their team, especially considering it was the first two-year-old race of the season.
