Lovely Reaction secured another commanding victory at Leopardstown's recent meet, dominating the QuinnBet Mares' Handicap Hurdle.
The six-year-old mare, guided by Mark Walsh, surged ahead after the penultimate hurdle to claim a comfortable nine-length win at odds of 6/1. Pipers Boreen (7/1) secured second place, with Blossom De Mai (18/1) following closely behind.
Trainer Tom Mullins expressed his confidence in the talented mare, stating,
“She's always shown potential, and I felt she was unbeatable last time out. We faced a minor setback in the previous race, but after some rest and a light training schedule, she performed exactly as expected at Fairyhouse. Bred from the esteemed Walk In The Park lineage, we plan to focus her races between two-and-a-half to three miles before progressing to further handicaps and potentially transitioning to steeplechasing.”
Lovely Reaction's previous triumph came in a Limerick handicap hurdle in January last year.
During the event, an inquiry was conducted by the Raceday Stewards regarding an incident post-start involving several horses, including Champella, Optional Mix, Bestaline (FR), Doyenna, Circus Act, and Magic Conqueror.
Following testimonies from the jockeys involved, it was determined that S. O'Callaghan had ridden carelessly, breaching Rule 214. Consequently, he was suspended for four racedays based on his previous record of such incidents.
