Kyprios' next port of call is Gold Cup

Kyprios is determined to reclaim his title in the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot. Trained by Aidan O’Brien, the six-year-old horse emerged victorious in the 2022 renewal, defeating Mojo Star by half a length. Unfortunately, he had to miss last year's race due to injury, limiting him to just two races where he finished second both times, including a narrow loss to Trawlerman in the Long Distance Cup.

However, this season has seen Kyprios return to his winning ways, reminiscent of his flawless record as a four-year-old. He has secured victories over Queenstown as a strong favourite at Navan and Leopardstown, both over a mile and three-quarters. With the upcoming race stretching out to two and a half miles, Kyprios is poised to excel once more.

Trainer Aidan O’Brien expressed confidence in Kyprios, praising his resilience and form. Meanwhile, David Menuisier's Caius Chorister is also a strong contender, with an impressive rise from a lowly handicap mark to Group race success. The talented mare will be aiming to cap off her remarkable journey by winning at the prestigious event.

Gregory, representing Wathnan Racing, is another contender to watch out for, coming off a strong performance at York. With jockey Frankie Dettori aboard, the talented colt will aim to replicate last year's success at the Queen’s Vase. Finally, Trawlerman, trained by John and Thady Gosden, will seek to once again best Kyprios in their ongoing rivalry over the challenging two-and-a-half-mile distance.

With top contenders vying for victory, the Gold Cup promises to be a thrilling and competitive event at Royal Ascot this year.
